What current public figure(s) are you most thankful for?
What current public figure or figures are you most thankful for who are living today.

At the top of my list are: Jimmy Carter, for his dedicated work for peace in a increasingly hostile world. Edward M. Kennedy for his life long fight for social and economic justice.

Who are you thankful for?

1. Dean and Kucinich
Dean for showing Democrats can fight, can raise funds, can criticize.

Kucinich for raising the important issues that need to be voiced.

Cher

2. Dean and Ted Kennedy.
Dean for exciting me about our chances in 2004. Before he became a voice of opposition to Bush I was really depressed and troubled by the rest of our potential field.

Ted Kennedy for standing up to Republican bills and providing leadership in the Senate while there is a vacuum there.

8. Kucinich and all liberals, progressives, and radicals
Sheeple, the right-wing, and "centrists" are just supporting the status quo - which will lead us to destruction within 50 years and sure is damaging to citizens' freedoms now (NAFTA, FTAA, DOMA, RIAA, DRM, you name it...)

Remember folks, LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE OF IT. Why the hell do we all romanticize an ideal life for people when we should be making it happen for real?!

9. Heroes
Russ Feingold, for being the only member of the Senate to stand up to the Patriot Act and vote no.

Barbara Lee, for being the only member of the House to stand up to Bush's invasion of Afghanistan and vote no.

Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich, for being among the very few public figures to speak out strongly against Bush back during the first few months of this year, when the atmosphere in this country was starting to resemble that of Nazi Germany. They gave a lot of the rest of us the courage to also speak out, and the way I see it they were instrumental in turning the tide against Bush.

It's rare that I would praise a Republican, but Ron Paul, for being one of the few Republicans to stand up to Bush on things like the Patriot Act, the Homeland Security Act, and the Iraq war resolution, and the only one to do so vocally.

And yes, Jimmy Carter makes the list too for his longtime diplomatic and human rights work. Just think how different things might have turned out had Carter been re-elected to a second term.

16. Good choice
You make a very good point here about Hugo Chavez. Has anyone else noticed that the Bush regime's propoganda hacks on the Internet, like Instapundit, have been on a regular streak of Chavez-bashing lately?

When ya fill the tank, do it at Citgo! The other big oil companies are all big Republican donors. I've been posting on this subject on my blog: www.blogstudio.com/ldoolin

21. The honorable and courageous Robert Byrd.....may he live long....
He's shown clear leadership to those who are willing to stand for what is right and true. He's a constitutional historian, and a true American statesman.
