Bush governed a large state
Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 12:55 PM by KaraokeKarlton
Does that mean he makes a good president? It seems that some people on this site believe that what makes a good leader is the number of people you've led. If that is true, then they must think Bush is just the cat's pajamas.

It's time to recognize the facts here, people. It's not the size of your state, the amount of minorities in your state or how much money your state has to work with. The only REAL indicator of what kind of President a Governor would be is to look at what they did with what they had to work with. How much did they accomplish? How hard did they work? Were they fair, balanced and hard working? Did they do a good job in representing the people they were serving? Do they always try to do what they believe is best?

4. I saw that
I just felt compelled to be a bit more blunt than you were this time. Some people don't "get" the more subtle points. ;)

BUsh's record as Texas governor should be an issue in the campaign next year, for it was not in 2000. It rather angers me that Michael Dukakis can just be savaged for his record and of course they are already setting up to trash Howard Dean's record as governor, even as they tell us that Bush's record in Texas is not relevant.

3. Simplistic people elect simple Presidents who then give us simplistic
answers based on a BLUFF/PUFF Fantasy.

We have yet to shuck the yoke of LOLOism. We are fuckin DOOMED unless we reverse the trend towards stupidity.

5. Bush governed a large state poorly
that should be an issue. He also governed a large country poorly, and that is the issue.

I'm thinking NH, VT, and Maine should secede from the union and form a separate country.

We'll shut down the maple syrup supply - that'll teach the fuckers!

I can't tell you (nor do I need to) how weary I am of hearing about small states being unimportant.

Perhaps we can add an amendment to the Constitution that only men from large states can govern. :eyes:

10. Yeah, I know what you mean
I was born and raised in Maine, work in NH and live in VT, so I value all three states. There is just as much lack of knowledge and understanding about these three states as there is regarding the south. I've lived there too. Little do they know that these states are very likely MORE politically astute than most other places in the country because damn near everything is politicized and debated, argued and influenced at the local level. We should shut down more than maple syrup. Shut down the lobsters, clams, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and shut the borders to all those damn leaf-peepers who clog up our roadways with their shitty driving! Oh, and protect NH's dogs, horses and cows...don't let out of staters hunt in NH (except Vermonters and Mainiacs, of course)!

Goddamned flatlanders! ;)
