DU this CNN poll. My God people are gullible.

Is al Qaeda linked to attacks by insurgents in Iraq?

Right now, 61% are saying "yes".

This in spite of a news story ALSO ON CNN, saying that the US commander in Iraq says there's no connection.

What people are hearing is Bush lying about it: "better we fight them in Iraq than in the streets of America"

I'm getting "lie overload"

1. Actually, I Think Al Qaeda Is Involved
I don't think they are central, but this seems a golden opportunity to stick it to the man.

10. So do I
I think what the poll is trying to imply though is that al Qaeda is primarily responsible for the attacks as opposed to just taking part in them. I believe the latter is the case.

Amazing. I think people honestly believe that the Iraqis view us as liberators as opposed to occupiers. I mean naturally only a worldwide terrorist conspiracy could be responsible for these attacks, as opposed to people who view the US as an occupying force in their home.

2. cnn
CNN can pose some of the most stupid questions. How the hell do I know whether Al Q is involved. And neither does this administration. They don't know Jack.

3. the U.S. commander in Iraq says otherwise
The U.S. commander in Iraq said Saturday attacks on coalition troops are down by 30 percent -- but an al Qaeda link to them has not been confirmed.

"At this time, we've not conclusively established an al Qaeda" connection, said U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, head of ground forces. "We firmly believe that there are links both financial and training and operational links that are present, but still haven't made that connection."

4. To say that Americans know little or nothing
of the various Middle Eastern cultures and political groups is a vast understatement.

5. You think they even know where the Middle East is?
Many of them can't even find North America on a map.

6. this is my big issue lately
what people THINK is true, what their IMPRESSION of an issue is, is more important than what the fact is. CNN should be reporting that the army officials don't think the al queda is involved, not that the sheeple think they are. like the posting above, how do we know who's involved? but CNN will use this survey as meaning something. it means nothing. ...(sigh)

7. Extremely Important Poll
I think this poll is extremely important, not becasue any of us know with certainty what the accurate answer to the question is but because of this. The assertion of the poll has never been supported by any credible source of information. Not one single person who answered the poll in the affirmative simply got the notion that al Qaeda was associated with insergent action Iraq out of the blue. What we are being told is that at least 60% of the people were lied to and that the lie was accepted as truth. This is the real problem that is exposed by the poll.

11. Our Media has MORPHED the terrorist....
...organization led by Osama bin Laden known as Al Qaeda into any primarily Islamic organization that opposes the Imperial policies of the bush* administration. Most Americans (as evidenced by this poll) could care less...if it is Islamic, Middle Eastern, Asian, or non-white, Kill It.

I seriously doubt that Osama or anyone connected directly with him is sitting in a cave somewhere, pulling the strings of a co-ordinated resistance movement attacking our troops. If Osama (or Al Qaeda) are active at all, they are operating as completely independent cells, picking their own targets on a local level. There may be some co-ordinated efforts primarily out of Saudi and Iran to funnel some money to these cells. To try to blame AlQaeda is soooo pre9-11. The bush* warmongering has united most of these groups into an uncoordinated resistance movement with a common enemy. If ALL these guys ever get on the same page...????

The above are strictly my opinions.

12. al Qaeda curdled my milk
I believe al Qaeda is responsible for food spoilage in my refrigerator. I know for a fact that they left a flaming bag of poo on my front porch on Halloween night, and I almost got a shot at them, as they fled wearing Harry Potter costumes. When will you people realize that America must protect our precious fluids from this menace, and the only way to do that is to make our president an emperor for life and suspend the constitution in order to save it!
