Feedback request by the UK government
Tony Blair's government is requesting input on issues that they will act upon. Here is the website: www.bigconversation.org.uk
Put your cynicism aside, as the request is quite serious, and your input will be more powerful in terms of global human rights than writing your congressman.

I hope you find the impetus to have a look and respond to these issues and questions posed to "you" the public.

3. no problemo
I put the cynicism remark, as people percieve the government of the uk as tony blair and this poll, though with 'is face, is really of the ruling party - labour... and any place we can get a word in edgewise is worth it.

I've read the consultation paper, and am impressed that the government would bother to pretend to share such issues with its public... geez, wouldn't it be refreshing to recieve a similar request from the US government? :-)

2. interesting, thanks

The conversation is obviously aimed mainly at Brits, but the response form does provide a place to enter one's country name, if it is not the UK.

Of the list of topic questions, this might be of most interest:
http://www.bigconversation.org.uk/index.php?id=712
"How do we develop our concept of international community?"

There are also upcoming Q&As with Labour politicians, and a form for submitting questions.

Bill Rammell, Foreign Office Minister (junior minister, I assume; his responsibilities don't include the US or Mideast) is December 15 at 2 p.m.; questions will be asked and answered live on line, then available archived.

Here's a December 2002 interview with him about Iraq re human rights:

He seems to have had (still have?) responsibility for human rights:

and for environmental issues:
