4. IMO
I can see Dan joing the Mike Wallace/Andy Rooney club. Not even considering retirement til he's in his mid to late 80's. Dan just seems to be one of those CBS troopers to me!

5. Dan must be madder than a wet hen in the rain
Maybe his job has become like a too-small bathing suit on a too-long ride home from the beach. I bet the last few years has been like trying to scratch his ear with his elbow.

I just hope that if he does retire, he takes a hint from Cronkite and speaks out about the pathetic state of his industry.

Does everyone remember when Rather got mugged? Hehe!

I'd bet most people on this board don't know that's where REM got the song title from -

7. He's the only anchor with a conscience.
Dan Rather is someone who quite likely will speak out; if CBS is smart they will keep him on.

8. CBS? The Craven Broadcasting Syndrome?
CBS and Rather (who USED to be a Journalist) have been rather naughty this year, what with the appearance--however slight--of independent thoughts and all.

It's even money that CBS is being pressured by the Regime to get back into The Fold. What better way for CBS to show the White Haus that they truly regret the error of their ways than to sacrifice the only link they still have to their former greatness: Rather, who used to be a Journalist.

As far as the "news" leaking on Drudgie's site, can you say

"Trial Balloon?"

I knew you could!

:argh:
