'tis the season to BOYCOTT WALMART
Boycotting these SOB's is more important this time of year, than at any other time. Resist all temptation to buy products that were produced by 10 year old Chinese girls, under slave-like conditions, and then placed on the shelves by undocumented aliens, just because it will save you a couple of bucks. CONTINUE THE BOYCOTT!!!!!!

3. Where I live, that is impossible...
Either I feed the Walmart beast (no competition here) or I feed the oil company beast (will have to drive 100 miles to competitors).

I buy as much as I can on the internet. But when I have to run quickly to pick up a necessity, there aren't many options. NO options for toys, electronics, household items except for Walmart.

That doesn't mean I like it.

13. Yes, their prices are usually much lower, and...
one of their SuperCenters has just about everything. So it is also one-stop shopping.

10. Irony about walmart...
the 5th largest importer of CHINESE goods...

and

most of their customers (from my own experiences) are the uber-patriotic white trash suburbanites...

By shopping there, they are doing business with a Stalinist government, that among other things, uses child and slave labor. But then again, America does business with the same kinds of evil we are supposedly fighting against... Saudi Arabia... COUGHOILBUSHWHOREOILOILOIL...

I won't shop at walmart... they suck...

16. Amen
Haven't bought anything from that hellhole in over a year, and have encouraged my friends and family (largely to no avail) to stop feeding that beast as well. I'm from a fairly small town so my options are somewhat, but not totally, limited by Wal-Mart, but there are plenty of places to get what you need. I'm working to become a more knowledgeable consumer, and Wal-Mart is probably the most obvious store to stay away from.

19. As for me, it's "open season" on Wal-Mart all year long
Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 10:37 PM by Military Brat
I've been boycotting them a long time. Backstabbing corporation. No, they didn't backstab me, I never worked there. I'm talking about their modus operandi, their lack of ethics, their moral compass which always points to the bottom line.

Now, all that anger aside, here's a nice logical article titled "The Wal-Mart You Don't Know." It really sets out exactly why Wal-Mart is so destructive in ways most people never even thought of. Print a copy, keep it with you, show it to folks. It's an eye-opener.

Edited for clarity.

maybe in 6 years or so, when i was 16 or thereabouts..... started learning about wal-mart's seeming policy of choosing sites based on what amount of history could be destroyed, or how many indian graves were on the property, ya know?

that did it for me, and the number of times it'd happened and their lack of concern over continuing to do so was fucking mind-boggling, and too much to ignore for me.

then of course, there are the other issues.... labor, both domestic and overseas, and so on. but if you want to know what kind of company wal-mart is, all you have to do is read that story about where the lady got trampled.... lady gets trampled at wal-mart, knocked uncocscious which causes a seizure as most customers go about their mad rush for dvd players and other items.... then at the end of the story, wal-mart, in concerned fashion, says they'll *hold* that dvd player for her........ pay attention folks, they'll HOLD what i think was a thirty dollar dvd player, so she can come back in and buy it..... they'll be lucky if she doesn't sue those pissers! and they're willing to *hold* something for her that's at such a minimal cost that she has to pay for after what happened in their store when she was trying to obtain it? well la-di-da, how fuckin' beautiful a gesture can one make?

just amazing....

25. Tis ALWAYS the season to boycott WhiteTrashMart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like to go into WallyWorld just to funk shmit up. Find a intercom fone, pick it up, say into it "WAL MART SUCKS!" and enjoy it echoing in the bowels of your least favor dump of a store!!! Another think I enjoy doing is setting all the demo alarm clock radios to the same station (I recommend your local Satanic Rock station!) and turn them up as loud as they go. Set the alarms for 5 minutes from the present time. Just wait for the fun! Plus, be sure to ask if they have automatic machine guns, then ask if they sell beer.

27. I hate Wal-Mart
Edited on Sun Nov-30-03 02:07 AM by scottcsmith
Going there to shop is a nightmare and they pack the DVD section with full-screen editions for the yokels who purchase a widescreen edition by mistake and then return it for a refund because it's "broke" due to the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

Slave labor is bad, too.
