Remarkable poll at CNN Money
1. Where did you do the most shopping this past weekend?

Malls 18%
Big discount stores 16%
Local shops 7%
Online 11%
Didn't shop at all 48%

http://money.cnn.com/index.html?cnn=yes

I thought the Thanksgiving weekend, particularly the day after, was the biggest shopping day(s) of all? Yet from this poll, only 52% of those respondents did any shopping. I wonder how this compares with any other weekend? I went shopping, although it was unrelated to the holiday season, so I would have to answer in the affirmative. However, I would have gone shopping regardless of what time of year it was.

Is 52% a sign of a impending booming economy? If not, then how is this reconciled with the "good economic news cheerleaders" of the corporate media?

1. I've always maintained the dread placed on that date....
Was overrated. I've always been shopping the day or two after Thanksgiving and while it ain't exactly a calm walk in the park, it's not the ridiculous onslaught it's made out to be either.
