I worked for some attorneys who were pals. they said he was fun to party with, but... they were republicans. And Molly Ivins is often quoted as saying she thought (from her high school experiences with shrub) that he was an amiable fellow. However - there are not a few folks in the DFW area who remember slightly harsher sides of the soon-to-be president, while he "negotiated" with the city of Arlington for a new ballpark.

...why some people find him charismatic. I honestly don't! He always looks mad or confused or both. To emphasize a point, he speaks louder and bangs his fist on the podium. He has beady little eyes and the permanent facial expression of a smart-ass. He's an elitist without the intellect. He has no qualms about lying, no matter how often or to whom.
ok, I'll stop now. if anyone can explain his allure, let me know. cuz I just don't get it.

The media said he's likeable so therefore he was. The media said he kicked Gore's ass in the debates, so therefore he did. I thought Gore ruined Bush in every debate except maybe the first one where Gore looked orange.
Why are the media such shameless whores?

People who have met him in person claim he is very likeable and friendly, but his appearance and the sound of his voice just make me physically ill. To me he looks like the typical stupid rich white guy. His whiny voice and shifty eyes speak volumes of his personality.

It was as if the media declared him likeable and therefore he was. I don't get it. When I hear his voice or see his face, I want to scream. I feel like I'm in that painting "The Scream." (I can't remember the artist, a German painter I think).

9. he's pretty likable unless you know about his background and what a... |
|
weasel he is. Most people don't think to check into that. Not even at all. That is where you get the "he may not be a genius, but the man is incapable of telling a lie" myth.
He's an affable guy, he comes off well to the casual observer. Sometimes he says something funny. Tosses on the blue jeans and hangs at the ranch. All in all, a pretty good fake image he has going for himself. Nobody takes into account he's malleable and his lack of curiosity is a gross fault. The man doesn't know anything about the world nor does he care to. Foolish to epic proportions. Also, he's been a total failure all his life. Failed in business innumberable times, was an awful student, a bad husband until Laura lined him out when he was already in his 40's. Plain and simple, the guy could fuck up a cup of coffee on his own. He's been a welfare case living off of daddy's cash and connections and then their cash and connections all his life. His fortune was made in a dubious manner, election won in a total fraud and he has such a reputation as a moronic rube that when he doesn't make a total ass of himself in front of the camera or in a debate, people give him credit for not being as dumb as they thought. Compare him to Gore, for example, who comes off as intellectually superior and people start to identify with the dumb guy. His appeal is evident once you consider how dumbed down most of the American public is.

He is also great for the people who think pro wrestling is real. All hat and no cowboy. His perceived image as an "ordinary guy" is the perfect example of how dumbed down and sheeplike the American viewing public has become.

16. His fake image is likeable to the average American |
|
They like that he's a "normal guy" who isn't too cerebral. They feel like he's the type of guy they can just walk up to and talk to. They like that he shows emotion to the point of choking up sometimes.
They've totally bought into that fake image. The rest of us know what he really is.
Personally, he makes my blood boil.

Say what you will about him, but he (or rather Rove) has mastered spinning an "likeable" image. It's an image predicated on smoke and mirrors and lots of tomfoolery, but it's an image that works nonetheless. And although the American people may see through the lies and feel his policies are wrong, they won't lose that "likeable" image anytime soon. The media has invested too much into it.

19. Does Chimpy Have A Best Friend? |
|
Nixon had his Bebe Rebozo. Adolph Hitler had Albert Speer. Karl Rove would qualify more as the Chimp's owner, rather than as his friend. Ken Lay was dropped by the Chimp like a bad banana. Does Bush have a close enduring friendship with anyone? You can often judge a man and his likeability by the quality of his closest friends.

I've met the pres, and I've met con-men, and the pResident reminds me of a few con men that I've known personally. One con man in particular who is very difficult to hate, even though he's done me great disservice. This fellow reminds me of Shrub so much it's downright weird.

From what I've seen of him, he strikes me as mean and cruel. Kind of like the kid who liked to torture small animals as a kid. Someone who used to pick on other kids at school (like I was picked on)

An alert for American voters and humane educators everywhere appeared on May 21 in the 61st through 64th paragraphs of a 76-paragraph NEW YORK TIMES feature on the childhood of Republican candidate for U.S. president George W. Bush -- if anyone noticed.
«One of the local rituals for children,» reported Nicholas D. Kristof of Life in Midland, Texas, when George W. was a boy, «were meetings with cookies and milk at the home of a nice old lady who represented the SPCA. The cookies were digested more thoroughly than the teachings.»
«`We were terrible to animals,' recalled Throckmorton, laughing. A dip behind the Bush borne turned into a small lake after a good rain, and thousands of frogs would come out. `Everybody would get BB guns and shoot them,' Throckmorton said. `Or we'd put firecrackers in the frogs and throw them and blow them up.'»
Kristof made plain that «we» explicitly included George W. Bush, and that George W., the Safari Club International «Governor of the Year» in 1999 for his support of trophy hunting, was the leader among the boys who did it.http://www.all-creatures.org/aip/nl-3nov2000-frogs.htmlalso: http://www.bushwatch.com/garlicfrogs.htmMyriam Miedzian, who has published a book on boys and violence, recently wrote a column in the Baltimore Sun* in which she reported that as a kid George W. Bush used to kill frogs by putting firecrackers into them, tossing them in the air, and watching them blow up.

38. That wanker is as likeable as a cold douche. |
|
Or as likeable as a boil on one's ass. Or as likeable as falling on one's keys. Or as likeable as smearing honey on one's body and waiting for the flies to land.
If being a stupid, spoiled, petty, moronic party boy who wouldn't read a book if it bit him on the ass is what makes one likeable in America, then I fear for America.
He reminds me of a drunk who came uninvited to a party and won't leave. Huh. Wait a second, he *IS* the drunk that came to the whitehouse uninvited!
