Quesiton about the Dru Sjodin case. The charged him with kidnapping? |
|
I have been watchign this the last two days as I was at home sick.
All through it I have been wondering what exactly they charged this guy Rodriguez with and apparently he was charged with kidnapping yesterday.
Okay the guy is by all accounts a menace to society and I think I agree with holding him as the main suspect but how can they charge him with kidnapping if they don't know where she is? Of course I hope for the best for her and her family and actually his too, they were as alarmed as anyone when he was released.
How can they do that?

From what I have heard they say she was kidnaped from a store parking lot. If you have vidio footage of a strugle or some simmilar evidence wittnesses etc. you dont need to know where he stashed her to go for kidnaping. Obvioulsly makes the case a little harder to prosicute but not imposible.

2. I have a great deal of empathy for this case.... |

but I am SICK of news coverage being full blown for pretty people.
bad stuff happens to people every damn day...
I am sick of the news going out full tilt for pretty people only.

When I first heard of this girl's disappearance, I wondered why it was getting so much press. Then, I turned on the TV set and saw her picture; then, I knew why it was getting so much attention. I'm not saying it's wrong to try to save someone from a horrible death by using the press. It's just that there are many not-so-pretty, non-white people out there who go missing every day, and their pictures are never on CNN.

7. More to the point:Blonde |
|
I hate to say that but there have been discussions of that here on DU before. Of course I feel for her family but there are lots of such stories (usually parents involved in custody cases) out there.
There was a girl (It got so little coverage even locally I can't remember her name) who lived with her grandparents and was abducted. Someone cut the power lines to their rural house, came in murdered the grandparents, and took her. She was missing for about a week and they found her body just across the North Carolina border. Almost no coverage, she wasn't blonde.

3. They found blood in his car |
|
that was the same type as Dru's. Doesn't sound like DNA proof (think that would take longer) but the type is the same.

I didn't know all I had heard was that he had been arrested and couldn't figure out exactly for what or what it was based on.

9. Also, it's been reported that he was absent from work |
|
the day she disappeared, and was believed to have been at the mall where she disappeared from, on the day in question.
As for your earlier comment about blondes, I think you're probably right to a certain extent, but remember that Laci was brunette. And I do remember the story of the little girl you referred to. I don't remember her name, but I do recall her story.
