7,000 Americans have joined Dean For America since yesterday
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 01:48 PM by pruner
Since yesterday's announcement by Vice President Al Gore that he is endorsing Howard Dean, you have once again shown the strength of the greatest grassroots campaign of the modern era. Here's what you've done in the last 24 hours:

• More than 7,000 Americans have joined your campaign, bringing the total to 527,320. If you haven't already, join now, and then invite a friend to join.

• You have contributed more than $320,000 to taking back your country. By two million Americans contributing $100, we will defeat George W. Bush and the large corporate interests that back him. Join the $100 revolution today.

• You have sent more than 14,000 notes of appreciation to Al Gore. Send a note now, and show the strength of a united Democratic party.

The power of your letter-writing is tremendous. This morning you made the New York Times, in a report on how your Meetup letters helped persuade Vice President Gore:

(T)he campaign encouraged Dean supporters to write to Mr. Gore, among other Democratic figures, including former President Bill Clinton, to seek their endorsements. A Dean aide said that at an Oct. 1 gathering of 50,000 Dean supporters in more than 700 cities around the country, 2,500 people sent handwritten letters to Mr. Gore asking him to endorse Dr. Dean.

1. I'm ready to shift into high gear...
and move forward now that we seem to have a candidate in mind. I've been waiting for this moment. My next step will be to contact the Democratic Party here in Portland and sign up for volunteer duty.

I plan to recruit many adorable but lethargic teenagers who hold the power of the vote. I'd like to pay them $5 for doing so. Is this OK?

Grassroots is the key to this election. Also, Dean is the young peoples' man of choice, so it should be pretty easy to getting a commitment out of them.
