Iowan DUers...can you tell me if the dean attack ads against gep |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 09:47 AM by bearfartinthewoods
were actually the first attack ads ever aired in Iowa caucas history?
the allegation was mad by a pubbie who was pointing out dean's politicalization of the iraq war. i don't live near iowa and have not seen the ad in question. was it an attack ad and has there been an abscense of attack ads in previous caucases.
thanks in advance

That ad was outrageous and any Dem should condemn it. I have lost respect for oldtime DUers who haven't called for the responsible party to declare themselves and who haven't condemned it. This isn't how the Dem party works together.

15. not unless they edit it out as a soundbite and i don't think it was |
|
a big enough deal for that. it was a dem versus pubbie panel discussion of the implications of dean's iraq war stance in consideration of the capture. i didn't recognize either of the speakers but i wasn't really watching. i was sort of listening as i read DU.

4. i'm not sure we are taking about the same ad. |
|
this seems to be about an ad dean ran against gep not the independent group ad against dean.

I can't remember exactly which candidate has, but I've seen it this year (I think Gephardt attacking Dean, and lots of ads from everyone attacking Bush, which is okay by me). I guess I can't remember because political ads are 99% BS. All of the mail I get has been REALLY nasty this year too. I remember 92 and 88, and barely remember 84 (I was 4 years old), and this is a pretty vicious year, IMHO.
Sorry for the vauge response earlier.
on edit: No, I haven't seen this ad you speak of in particular.

10. I did see one of them on Sunday and have seen no other ads |
|
that sink to this level from any I've viewed on air thus far.
I knew they existed because of the discussion on this board. My husband, who wasn't aware of their existence, sat up straight in his chair and basically did one of his "What the f___?" reactions he usually reserves for bad baseball plays. He wanted to know if this was the Republicans trying to influence the caucus and elevated his level of expletive when I explained to him that this ad was put out by some ex-employees of Gephardt and Kerry. Gephardt just slid right off his radar with Kerry sliding right behind him.
