Why does Dean always wear the same outfit?
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 01:44 PM by zulchzulu
It's so '80s. The dark pants, the rolled-up white Oxford shirt and the tie that's a little too long for his body...

Granted, he would look odd in that black nehru outfit that Kucinich wore at the MTV debate. Maybe there are Dean photos where he wears different outfits.

This could be an interesting Photoshop project to see alternative Dean outfits.

1. don't they all wear
dark pants, white shirts, and ties?

I guess I don't have the fashion sense to pick out the subtle differences in whatever Dean's wearing.

He doesn't own many suits, and he wears them over and over and over again.

That look was rather awkward. Its something that it's hard for anyone to pull off. Wasn't Clark wearing something similar?

6. He pulls it off a little better than Dennis....
I like Dennis but his appearance isn't classic enough to be able to get away with something like that. Clark can pull it off a little better but it's still not the wisest choice.

Maybe it's a military thing. I seem to remember that every time I see that Hackworth dude he's also in that type of garb.

8. I kind of like
the Clark and Kucinich look. Clark's dark grey mock was a better choice than Kucinich's near-black mock which was more of a sprocket thang.

Dean's outfits are ok. The tweedy look of his suits is pleasant.

I read somewhere that Einstein had multiple pants, shirts and socks that were identicle, so he didn't have to waste time thinking about what to wear. Seems like an easy way to shop.

9. why does Dean always wear the same outfit?
Uh.... Maybe because men's fashion is limited in choice and variety and a button down shirt and dark pants is pretty much standard fair. It's not like men's fashion is anything like women's fashion, he can't through on a powder blue gown and then a little black number....

The only variety is really sports jacket or no sports jacket....

10. He could definitely use fashion advice
It's so goddam superficial to suggest this, but Dean needs to focus more on his appearance-specifically his suits and shirts. The worst thing he does is roll his sleeves up past his elbows- a BIG NO NO. Ideally, the sleeves should be rolled twice, which leaves them around the mid forearm area.

Moreoever, Dean's suits are very boring, and his casual wear (tight jeans, t-shirts, and white tennis shoes) is horrendous. He also needs to smile more.

Just kidding. I think he's going for a Harry Truman sleeves-rolled-up-I'm-a-rural-working-guy look.

If and when he becomes Pres., he'll switch to the dark, GC tailor-made suits and accessories that a wealthy city boy like himself can easily afford.

You know I have nothing but love for my fellow DUers, but I'm not going to sit here and actually believe that we are the pillars of fashion-foward thinking.

Admit it...most of us are sitting in our cubicles wearing jeans and a shirt or maybe some drab dark suit with a white or blue shirt.

I see little perceptible difference in the candidates' clothing. They are all walking, breathing GQ Don'ts.

I had no idea Dean always wore the same thing, I thought he just had 12 identically boring, identically unmemorable, identically indistinguishable from (insert candidate here)'s outfits.

Their campaign managers tell them to. Long ties are supposed to be a subliminal phallic symbol of virility. Especially if they are so long that they hang below the waist.
