Excellent Anti-Bush post in Paper |
|
Bob Marshall, Outdoors Editor for the Times Picayune of New Orleans, wrote an article in Sunday's paper listing what he wanted for Christmas. At the top of the list:
A President who places healthy habitat for fish, wildlife and humans above corporate profits. George Bush is pushing through a radical redirection of national environmental policy, ignoring a 30 year national consensus. It would be tough enough to swallow IF HE HAD CAMPAIGNED ON THIS THEME, or HAD BEEN ELECTED IN A LANDSLIDE and could claim some kind of mandate. But this EXTREMISM is coming from the man many people didn't vote for in 2000.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH THE SPORTSMEN IN YOUR LIFE.

1. Losing the hunting and fishing vote? |
|
Due to stereotypes most people aren't aware of the conservation and protectionist interests of the hunters and fishermen (the one's I know) and that the non-environmental environmental policies of these extremists in the W administration do not sit well with them. The problem will be for eco groups (Sierra Club, etc. ) to get the facts out and not be drowned by the NRA pushing many of those interested into voting on gun rights (though not really in any danger) and not on the eco issues.
