The Europeans, The Low Dollar, and My Brilliant Idea |
|
Okay, the Euro is trading around 1.25 Euros to the dollar, Right?
Okay, most of Europe hates Bush even more than we do, Right?
Get ready for my brilliant idea:
Let's get the Europeans to donate to the Democrats here in the U.S. and give us a chance to rid ourselves of Bush! Every one Euro they give, is like $1.25 to us!! Ten Europeans donating 1000 Euros each would be $12,500 for the Democrats!
I say, Let's fund raise in Paris!!!
Brilliant!!!!

If globalization is fine for the IT and mfg industries, then why is it not okay for American politics?

15. doesn't stop US from pouring millions into OTHERS' elections... |
|
the US has poured millions of dollars into electoral campaigns in other countries, funding specific parties that the US wants to see win.
What f***ing hypocrites.

Don't you think the rest of the world has a vested interested in seeing things get straightened out here in the US? And why wouldn't they donate to a political party? Is this illegal?
I wonder if any of them have donated to BeelzeBush?

6. An intriguing (though illegal) idea for planet USA |
|
If we think that foeign individuals and corporations don't dind ways we are being pretty naive. I expect that governments are also playing in the game.
Makes you wonder about the real meaning of globalization.

7. Here's my brilliant idea: |
|
Have all them Europeans send their money to poor American SOB's like me, and then we can legally donate the money to MoveOn, or whomever. And, I'm perfectly willing to go to Paris to collect the money.

8. If Dennis becomes the candidate.... |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 09:53 PM by Dirk39
I would donate my last Euro, but - not speaking for Europe, just for myself - I'm more afraid of Clark than I am of Bush. If Pinochet/Mussolini becomes the candidate for the democrats, I donate to Bush to save democrazy or freedom or whatever...:-) O.K. I don't donate to Bush. I spend my last Euros to grab myself a hole, where I can hide... Seems to me that some Republicans already donate enough dollars to the "democrats".
O.K, I want peace, so I ask myself: why the hell don't the democrats ask Bush to become their candidate? Bush is the only democrat, moderate enough to beat Bush, and he isn't as dangerous as Clark. He's just a little boy playing cowboy. Desperate in Germany, Dirk

10. Okay, the Euro is trading around 1.25 Euros to the dollar, Right? |
|
Wrong. You've got it backwards. One Euro is currently worth $1.2562USD. But you're correct in stating that every Euro they give us is worth $1.25.
You need to check out campaign finance laws. Foreigners can't contribute to US political campaigns. Don't you remember the stink about the donations from the Chinese? In fact, the repigs are currently raising a stink about George Soros' $12 million, claiming it's foreign money.
Sorry if I blew your idea out of the water.

You mean like how the Supreme Court defrauded us from a recount in 2000.
Or
Laws like not invading a country that has never attacked us.
Or
Laws that denied American citizens a right to counsel or a fair trial.
Or
Laws against outing a CIA agent
So, I guess that all of those laws can be broken, but not campaign finance laws.
p.s. I'm sorry that I got it backwards in my post. I didn't know that we were posting here for credit, professor!

13. I'm afraid it is illegal, although |
|
somehow it was not illegal for the U.S. to fund the opposition in the Nicaraguan elections in the 1980s.
Go figure.

www.mpp.org could use your donations... and given that they are fighting the good side at ground zero in the war-on-drug users for phamaceutical corporations... its a global war... donate away.

17. here's a better idea... |
|
Take your 1000 dollars and buy Euros. The dollar has not bottomed out yet, convert your money back when the euro is at 1.5 and use the profits to benefit your candidate.
Soros has made a mint betting against the dollar just so, as has most of the forex speculator community... why not democrats.
