3. How will the US punish these countries?

Strategic disciplinary airstrikes, or unilateral enforcement of no-fly zones and boarding all incoming vessels suspected of carrying pencils or pencillin?

12. I was wondering who they were
thanks, S.O.

Well, now I see what the desperation was all about. We currently have 2,000 rail cars full of meat, sitting in Portland and Seattle. They are stuck in customs, and no one quite knows what to do next.

It seems pretty clear that these countries are in no hurry to take delivery of this suspect meat. I've read that Japan is talking about "7 years" before any plans get changed.

It's a waiting game right now. While the stalling is going on, this meat is sitting in refrigerated containers, costing the beef producers big $$$bucks. They can't hold out indefinitely, and within 1 or 2 weeks, some kind of decision will have to be made.

Watch the sparks fly!!!!! And THEN, watch the retaliation start.

18. And now a third U.S. herd has been quarantined
"A third herd of cattle has been placed under quarantine in Washington state following the discovery of the US's first case of mad cow disease.
The US Agriculture Department's chief veterinarian Dr Ron DeHaven said at least some of the cows from the herds would have to be slaughtered.

He said 11 of the 81 cows believed to have been shipped from Canada with the infected animal had been accounted for.

At least 26 countries have placed restrictions on the import of US beef."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3364545.stm

Isn't it just wonderful that every time "mad cow U.S.A." is mentioned, they include the suspicion that it's all Canada's fault!

22. Plus, I've heard that most European nations have effectively been
boycotting our beef for quite awhile now-- they haven't wanted it because they don't like all the hormones and other crap our cattle are fed. Can anyone verify?
