CNN: Thune edging closer to challenging Daschle in '04
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/02/elec04.s.sd.thune/index.html

I think politically Daschle is stronger than Tim Johnson was in '02, but I guess Thune would probably be Daschle's toughest opponent.

2. So there are only 4 politicians in South Dakota?

Seems like the whole Johnson / Daschle / Thune / Janklow thing is all I hear from there.

4. Stephanie Herseth
She has a really good chance of winning. I already made my donation and I urge other DU'ers to go to her website and make a donation. The media in SD considers her the front runner right now.

5. considering that she came close in '02
against Janklow and Thune isn't going to run against her, I think she has a fabulous chance to win the special election and gain a seat for the Democrats in the house.

6. Daschle will win
He is quite popular in South Dakota. Plus, they like the idea that their Senator is in a position of power, given that they are a state that is usually ignored on the national level.
