Jimmy Carter: Zell Miller's Appointment to Senate a "Huge Mistake"
Wow. Guess I didn't catch this earlier -- sorry if this was posted some weeks back.

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/1203/11carter.html

WASHINGTON -- Former President Jimmy Carter says the appointment of Georgia's Zell Miller to the Senate was a mistake because his fellow ex-governor "betrayed all the basic principles that I thought he and I and others shared."

The comments, which Carter made Wednesday on the radio program FOX News Live with Alan Colmes, are the latest in a string of attacks prominent Democrats have made lately concerning the maverick senator who has endorsed President Bush's re-election and penned a new book arguing his party is out of touch with the South.

When Colmes asked Carter about Miller, the former president first said, "I would rather not even comment about Zell Miller on the radio," then proceeded to call the appointment "one of the worst mistakes" then-Democratic Gov. Roy Barnes made in his four years in office.

3. President Carter followed Zell Miller at a Democratic party convention.
I can't remember what year it was, probably 1988 or 1992. Miller was governor at the time, and Carter followed his speach at the convention saying something like 'what do you think of my new governor?'

Well, I've had a few years to think about it, and um. Well, not much, really.

I think that was 1992.
Miller made what was far and away one of the best convention speeches ever, and wholeheartedly supported Clinton.

The Zell Miller of 1992 was a very different man from the one running around Washington today.

Think it might be some kind of pod thing?

5. Maybe he was thinking along these lines...
Clinton was bringing the Democratic party toward the center with things like 'ending welfare as we know it' and dissing Jessie Jackson.

Miller might have thought that Clinton was the first step in taking the party not to the center, but to the right.

Obviously, that didn't happen, and now Zel's a little unhappy about that.

...

Or a pod thing.

4. Heard President Carter on the Diane Rehm show....OUTSTANDING!
If you didn't hear him on this show log on and select it from the archives (about a month old). It will blow your mind. He also discusses his book, "Hornet's Nest"

Here is the archive link: http://www.wamu.org/dr/2003/drarc_031208.html#monday

It is well worth scanning the entire 2003 archives, there were some amazing guests on Diane's shows during 2003.

8. Same way Brady was in Minnesota...
Republican incumbent Paul D. Coverdell "tragically" passed away (Southern conservative...So probably a neo-confederate like Thurmond and deserving of the gates of Hell) and Miller (then a far better man than he is today) was appointed by Democratic governor Roy Barnes.

11. I wonder if Miller is stupid enough
to think that repukes will appreciate him for being a bush suck-up??? My cousin is a Georgia repuke and all I know is that she hates him because she can't forget he is a "democrat" plus she doesn't trust him, what a fool he is. :argh:
