The media seems "mum" on Mad Cow.......is it safe? gag order?
You would think that something that actually affects the health of americans, the press would inform people of the status and saftey of the beef industry and the burgers that most people consume.

Do they seem quiet to you? I wonder if it's on purpose so that they can keep the sheeple shoveling in meat... and it's health implications.

1. I think they're being very "mum"
The flu is getting much more coverage than Mad Cow Disease in this country. I'm sure there is a kind of "gag" order; maybe self-imposed by the American media. Maybe they're not being given information, either.

2. Obvious propaganda
I've thought from the day the story broke that there has been next to no reporting being done on this important story. All we've been hearing is a public relations campaign from the beef industry. A new low for the profession of journalism (if that were possible).

4. Not looking for criticizing....just want to know if it's safe? No truth
again.

People on this thread are always looking to show thier friends how the media is complicit...and how it could affect them.

7. Everything I read points to being a much bigger problem than we know.
It goes far beyond beef because potential prion-containing animal products are used in all sorts of foods, gelatin is one that is in many foods. The blood supply of the country will also be effected because they are not certain the prions aren't transmitted through blood transfusions.
I guess it's taking awhile to spin the trail of accountability to Democrats.

11. your odds of being killed in a car wreck on the way to the meat market
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 12:59 PM by bearfartinthewoods
are a hundred thousand times greater than of dying from mad cow. that said, there are other problems with beef. after working in a slaughter house/meat cutting plant, she bear and i quit eating meat.. even now, 25 years later we will never eat fast food burgers. about ten years ago, we found a source who we felt was more responsible in his management/treatment. what meat we eat, we buy there. for general safety reasons, not tied to mad cow, if i needed burger, i buy the hunk of meat and asked that it be ground for me, preferably early in the day.

you really don't want to know what goes into mass produced burger.
