Lehrer News Hour video of US military raid in Iraq-MUST SEE
Credit goes to pinkpops for posting this first, but I'm hoping a more specific subject line will attract more viewers.

Please visit pinkpops' thread and look at the video ... if you can stand it. here

You have to have javascript enabled for the videos to come up on that page ... and they'll go into the archives after tonight's News Hour.

And check the transcript of the discussion afterward (in a post further down the thread), for the Marine Colonel's quote about the "Imperial United States." Unbelievable. The video of the discussion is available, too.

1. I saw it. Unbelievable! I almost got sick thinking that if that is
what they are showing us, it's probably a lot worst "behind closed doors."

Those troops are going to pay big-time for what they are doing. I know they are trained to do it and scared as hell and they honestly don't know who is the enemy (thanks GW!), but the WORST thing you can do to a Mulim is humiliate that person.

Then there is the mosque incident - the Iraqis are really pissed about how their sacred items were desecrated.

There will be an uprising - I still think it's going to happen.

"They've got the guns, but we have the numbers."

I have a bookmark lying around here someplace for the particular show... I'll add it when I find it.

Edit: Here it is. A streaming version is available there, as are transcripts.

If memory serves me correctly, some place in the documentary some U.S. troops got ahold of a couple Iraqis who were stealing lumber (it was strapped to the roof of their car). The soldiers pulled them from the car and proceeded to open fire on it... the car looked like swiss cheese. Then the soldiers drove over the car with a tank.

Afterward, they figured out that the owner of the car was a taxi driver and his car was his livelihood.

That really made me sick to my stomach. I agree with you, though... One can only guess at the truly horrible stuff that happens that doesn't get recorded or shown on television.

3. It reminds me

of the TV show about US soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. It was on for a very short time. It was supposed to show how great the military is, but the soldiers ended looking like a bunch of jackasses. I hated the way the Americans were yelling at the locals, who looked scared and perplexed because they couldn't understand English.
