does anyone have 95 bucks to spare? |
|
if so, please subscribe to pollingreport.com and get access to the state polls. i just can't swing it right now. refrigerator/new glasses//transmission....
you wouldn't be able to cut and paste the results but you sure as heck could tell us what they say without violating the agreement.

3. Question about polling |
|
Are 1001 people really enough to get a fair "representation" of how Americans will vote?

9. statistical sampling governs the minimum number of people |
|
needed to garner maximum accuracy and bang for the buck.
you could ask more people and reduce the MOE (margin of error) but that raises the cost. actually most polls don't go for 1000, 300-400 hundred is getting common.

Been reading DU for a couple months now, figured I'd finally take the plunge and join in.
As a political science major, my professors have told us that stastically you need approxomately 1200-2000 people polled to get a good representation of a population the size of our country and still have a small margin of error. Assuming of course you select the people you poll randomly. So I would guess that 1001 people would only have a slighly larger margin of error than say a 1500 person poll.
You would probably need to get to as low as a 200-400 person poll to start getting wildly inaccurate results.

This occupation will drag on and the fragile "support" for this "war" will turn on Bush.

8. The biggest problem is that the electorate is a bunch of friggin morons... |
|
57% favour a candidate who supported the war with Iraq because over 60% of the people are of the opinion that the 9/11 hijackers were either Iraqi, or financed/trained by Saddam Hussein.
and 44% of the people want to keep the tax cuts in place because they simply don't understand how the economy works or how the deficit is going to overwhelm us and our children and their children ad infinitum...these are the same people who happily shop at Walmart, and then wonder whatever happened to good ol' mainstreet USA, as well as their job security...the same people who are disgusted by the idea of an aristocracy(or would be- if they knew what it was), but wholeheartedly support the repeal of the "death tax"...the same people who virently defend the Constitution, but feel that cruel and unusual punishment is perfectly acceptable for habitual criminals....Like I said- a bunch of friggin' morons(or do you say morans?).

14. LOL...one of those dogs i told you about last night ate our front door! |
|
thank goodnes for the storm door. another time we came home and found our couch destroyed. we had a friend with a black lab who ate the interior of his car....seats, header, dash, even chewed the steering wheel in half in the period of 3 1/2 hours.
the guy is a saint. he apologized to the dog for leaving him for so long. sat down on the springs of his seat and drove off.

19. Thankfully this one hasn't destroyed anything |
|
except my Krispy Kreme donuts when he scared the cat who knocked them off th counter...(that bastard!)
We are shy of a few breakthroughs..but he is making good progress thank goodness...but he really is eating my spare cash...he's so friggin big the neuter job costs more and if he doesn't get off it with the cats, I am going to splurge on a remote citronalla collar so I can make him smell a smell he hates everytime he soes something I hate...it's the new innovative way to train a dog...but almost 300 bucks (my cats, my sanity and his well being are worth it though....first we'l see if the neuter job makes any difference...poor guy has more hormones than he can use or I can take...he keeps tryin to hit on me :D )
Sorry to take your thread off topic...BTW..I'll bet someone in Politics and Campaigns already invests and I even think I have seen Dolstein post from that site...so you might PM him...I'll bet he would be more than happy to share info with you.

21. That's How I Feel Exactly... |
|
I don't want a Dem who feels like they have to do all these ridiculous Bush policies to win -- then what have we won? I want a real change of direction, not just a different person sitting in the chair. Cripes I'd rather have Bush there taking the fall, rather than a Bushy Fake-Dem!

17. Do you not understand the meaning of "leadership?" |
|
I see your posts and the constant theme about those candidates with the greatest momentum. You just don't get it. My $95 or $195 or $595 or $1095 are better spent on a candidate who is willing to LEAD the country instead of following it off a cliff.
Have you ever seen the movie "Twelve Angry Men?" The theme is leadership and the power of ONE to impact and persuade others. I want a presidential candidate who is willing to lead the country, rather than follow it. I want a presidential candidate capable of changing his/her OWN mind.
I've got 95 bucks alright. Thanks for reminding me that it's time to donate again.
