This article gives some hope on the subject, discounting more election theft.

One finds glimmers of hope for Democrats in the data:

Bush economic policy has pushed independents toward Democrats.

The growth in religiosity is not as strong among people under 30, who are more likely to be secular.

Despite its religiosity, the nation is more tolerant. "As with attitudes about race," reports Pew, "views on homosexuality have a strong generational component, with younger generations much less negative." This is especially true on gay marriage.

Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to oppose abortion even though, overall, Americans oppose making it harder for women to get an abortion, 57 percent to 36 percent.

Bush gambled his presidency on the Iraq adventure. Results are not in."

in fact, on religiousity in general Indeps are almost identical to Dems, as they are on issues related to gays.

And on the religious right, same thing.
