Bush compared to Hitler
Does anyone know if anyone put together a list of quotes from the Bush administration and the Nazis in Germany as sort of a "Guess who said it?"-type quiz? I've seen them before with other politicians, but missed any Bush-Hitler quiz if there was one.

22. Really? I remember getting most of them right
If you knew a little about Kaczinsky's agenda, and had some familiarity with Gore's style, it was pretty easy. Kaczinsky was highly literate, though; gotta give him credit for that.

2. I did one back in the DU 1 days
The search feature at DU1 still does not work; I lost the file when my hard drive crashed. I had at least 10 quotes on each side It was freaky and disturbing.

6. This should get you started
http://www.iusb.edu/~preface/20021113/html/the_way_it_is.html

BTW you can also argue that the comparison is unfair:

Hitler got the Iron Cross twice in combat where Bush didn't serve.

Hitler nearly took over Europe with a small army. Bush can't take over Iraq even with a large one.

Hitler was popular. Bush is not.

Hitler was elected. Bush was not.

Hitler could speak well in public. Bush can't hardly speak english at all.

12. Hitler wasn't elected. He was appointed Chancellor by
President von Hindenberg, reluctantly, I might add. He also avoided being drafted into the Austrian army, which it turns out he wasn't physically fit for when they caught up with him. He had to get a dispensation from the King of Bavaria to join the Bavarian army. You see he didn't want to be in the Austrian army because it had Slavs and Jews in it unlike the Bavarian army, which consisted only of pure Aryans. He did not shy away from the war though. Maybe it was because he liked to kill.

15. Germany had a Parliamentary system
Yes he was appointed but the Nazi Party had enough votes to be the largest party with 39% of the vote. Hitler became the leader with Hindenberg's death.

17. Yes, that's because he effectively canceled the parlaiment
after Hindenberg's death. Since he was dictator of the Nazis, he extended the title to Germany. I think it could happen here if similar circumstances come into play.

8. I will sometime this week. Guess these quotes...
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 10:09 PM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
Here is just a taste. Which number is the Hitler or Bush quote?

Note- Very different from my original this is off the top of my head.

1- "A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it,"

2- “Without law and order our nation cannot survive.”

3- "There ought to be Limits to Freedom!"

4- “Words build bridges into unexplored regions.”

5- “If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.”

Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 09:56 PM by webster_green
"The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and co-operation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life...."

Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 10:49 PM by BiggJawn
That's what these "Hitler was like Bush" threads degenerate into. some self-annointed busybody decides that they speak for the Holocaust Dead and that's the end of any reasonable discourse.

Intresting, isn't it, how a dry drunk like Bush knows ALL the right words to endear himself to the RW Fundys?

Hitler was popular with the Christian leadership of Germany, too. All this stuff about him being a Wotan-worshipping Atheist is nothing more than organized religion's feeble attempt to disown him...

Himmler was the Nordic occultist.

19. Bush could exceed the six million if given another term....
He's already killed some tens of thousands, including 9-11(if it was indeed BFEE special ops), Afghanistan, and Iraq. He's eyeballing Syria, and Iran. He is itching to start lobbing nukes. He could make Hitler look...well,...bush league. (sorry)

I have an article I call:

George W. Bush is Becoming More Like Hitler Everyday

It may not be what you want, but it has some good comparisons and info.

21. The comparison should be to
Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, the man who started WWI. Like Kaiser Wilhelm, Bush has made friends of traditional enemies, has completely altered political and military alliances, and is a loose cannon that the whole world fears will bring about a major war.

25. Also, the Kaiser did not have enough control of his underlings
and a few of them were busily stirring up trouble and making war more likely to happen, just like the neo-cons and Cheney and Rumsfeld have been doing.

23. Yesterday I saw a list of faces killed in WWII
from 1939, the German invasion of Poland, to 1945. It was mounted on a wall in a southern Bavarian restaurant, listing those from that particular village who had died...quite a litany of Germany's best.

I think it can best be compared to this list, especially if you take into consideration Bush's plan to prepare Americans for a generational commitment to "democratizing" the Middle East.
