Dude, Where's My Country is Michael Moore's best book. |
|
I bought it today. I'm skipping around to chapters which interest me.
Anyway, I didn't like his two previous books, and I like this one.
So I'd recommend it even to a Democrat who bought a previous Michael Moore book and didn't like it.
I like page 123 where he writes about how Henry Ford's big innovation was paying his workers enough to buy the cars, and Moore asks, "Why have American corporations forgotten this lesson when they go abroad?"

I got the book for Christmas, and I've been reading a chapter everyday. Excellent read!

we are in deep deep trouble.
I knew that already - but Moore just says it so clearly.
We are in deep shit.
He just brings it home:
It is 1933.
This is Germany.
The Bushes have firebombed the Reichstag.
And WE are the Jews.

3. I'm about 2/3 through it |
|
and I agree, great book. "SWM" was great, but "Dude" is about much more immediate concerns, certainly. Mike hit this one out of the park

It's even better than that.
I think it will become a classic of modern political polemic, to take its place beside Mark Twain's .
And I was never a die-hard Michael Moore fan. I liked his stuff, but I wasn't a convert. I am now.

5. I enjoyed "Stupid White Men" better |
|
DUDE, was just a fresher course for me. It was great that he got the Bush/Bin Laden/Saudi connection out to the masses. Other than that I consider SWM far more superior.

I read one of his books many years ago - Downsize This!, and I've seen Roger & Me and Bowling for Columbine, but I really do have to get around to reading his two latest books.
Trouble is there are so many great liberal books on the market right now, many of which I've bought and are in a pile waiting for me to read.
Right now I'm in the middle of Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, which will be followed by David Brock's Blinded by the Right and Howard Dean's campaign book Winning Back America. I really am going to have to get Moore's Dude, Where's My Country and Stupid White Men and add them to the "to read" pile sometime soon...

7. And also, a must read..... |

James Carville's brand new book, "Had Enough". Terrific! Recommened to all of DU, and try to find a way to get this book out to swing voters.

9. It's on the "to buy" list too |
|
I saw that book yesterday at the bookstore and almost bought it. It's another one to buy when I can afford another book buying binge. Hopefully sometime soon.
