Millions of true conservatives are ready to peel off from Bushco. It's time for a challenger to appear. Who will have the cajones to save the party?

Pop the corn, Maude. Let the games begin.

5. I think it's definitely possible now
The independent- or grass-roots-conservatives are in a RIOT.

Go read the freeper comments. They're disgusted with Bush. They're mocking Limbaugh. That's 100,000, let me repeat, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND dedicated conservatives right there.

I think Congressman Tom Tancredo (R, CO) is a good possibility.

Maybe Tom Coburn, former Congressman with a new book out that is not altogether sympathetic to elite GOP opinion, in fact, it's downright insulting at times.

Maybe Ross Perot or Jesse Ventura.

10. Hmmmm
Good point.

But if he ran with a PRIMARY plank of opposing Bush's immigration plan, that might not be the case.

It's risky though.

How about Bill O'Reilly in place of Ventura?

7. they are as mad as we were over welfare reform
and we still vote Dem. I don't think they are going anywhere.

I actually have some concerns about this Bush plan. What's to stop an employer from cutting wages to minimum wage and when he can't find anyone to do the job at that pay, hire illegals.

I'm seeing this as a fast track to a two tier society.

9. I disagree
They're MUCH madder about this than we were about welfare reform. Also, they're crazier, but you knew that :^{)

This a CORE "one issue" issue for many conservatives.

And the political situation was different. Clinton vetoed WR twice as the Repubs eventually compromised enough to garner a veto-proof majority anyway. This is a Bush INITIATIVE.

And your concerns are the perfect left concerns, in my opinion addressing Bush's true motivations--further empowering corporate interests.

I'm a traditional-values Lefty, so I oppose the plan from both right and left, personally, but I don't think a national Dem candidate can win votes with my eccentric views. They COULD win votes with YOUR idea, though.

11. Ross Perot?
I heard somewhere that Perot may toss his hat in the ring and run as an Independent once the primaries are over. Apparently he really hates the Bush family and would be happy to see it lose.

Wouldn't that be sweet? He could totally take millions of votes from Bush.

13. Aint't gonna happen. Time to sober up.
The conservatives won't split off. The conservative know that a splinter party means a Democratic win, and they blame Perot for giving Clinton the victory in 92. Doubtful Perot will do anything this year.

And NOBODY from inside the party will challange him for the nomination.

You are engaging in wishes & dreams, not in thinking.

think someone just might pop up. Kevin Philips Book, John Le Carre's book....so much dissention from the Freeps over that Immigration Smokescreen...I don't know, but I think a true Republican Patriot from the Old Guard just might show up.

Whom?

16. there is some dude named Blake Ashby running,
I think that is his last name. A businessman from Missouri. Looks like he stepped out of soap opera. But, we could all go vote for him in the primaries.

19. Saw Pat Buchanan on TV
Buchanan was livid over the Bush illegal worker deal! If Ross Perot or
Buchanan would run we may acually have a chance of winning. Heck I may
even vote for either one myself. They were both right on the NAFTA thing!

Senator Chuck Hegel of Nebraska (you know, sort of owns his state's voting machines) supposedly has a website all ready to go for his presidential run, maybe, in 2008.

21. I'd love to see Buchanan back in the race
...and I think he still has a campaign chest from the last run. I'll encourage him to do so. It's time to force Gopers to take a stand. Are they with Bush? Or are they with America?
