Mostly throwing this idea out to make sense of this immigration proposal:

Could it not potentially solve the recruiting/reenlistment problem if these workers find a job in the military?

1. they keep saying it's for the jobs Americans aren't willing to do...

for whatever reason.. they avoid the "why aren't they" part of it.

-low wages in agriculture

-getting shot at in Iraq


both are jobs that Americans are less-than-willing to do


and didn't too-stupid-to-eat-a-pretzel just recently praise an immigrant soldier?

2. Yup, went on about the military

He gave quite a few words about non-citizens in the military:

"We've all seen those values in action, through the service and sacrifice of more than 35,000 foreign-born men and women currently on active duty in the United States military. One of them is Master Gunnery Sergeant Guadalupe Denogean, an immigrant from Mexico who has served in the Marine Corps for 25 years and counting. Last year, I was honored and proud to witness Sergeant Denogean take the oath of citizenship in a hospital where he was recovering from wounds he received in Iraq. I'm honored to be his Commander-in-Chief, I'm proud to call him a fellow American."

It's called the Race to the Bottom, and illegal and legal immigration is a huge component of the Race to the Bottom.

3. When there was talk of a war back in 01, some on this board

thought that hispanics should be offered a deal..go to war and become American citizens.

What a deal, huh? If you aren't maimed or killed you can become a citizen. It was an appalling idea, but you could be right about this. Not enough cannon fodder for all the wars the Neocons facists have planned and what American would care or most likely even know if a different bunch of brown people kill other brown people.

This administration is vile enough to list this as one of the reasons, unspoken of course, to ofer this amnesty program.
