Pete Rose compares his compulsive gambling to the behavior of Bill Clinton
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 09:44 AM by trumad
:wtf: Clinton got one BJ and idiot Rose compares himself to B.C? He also threw in a reformed drug addict, Robert Downey, and a one time shop lifting queen, Winona Ryder. Does he have any proof that BC or Winona have a compulsive behavior problem or is he simply throwing names out for sensationalisim?

Keep this guy banned from Baseball. BTW: He's still blaming others for his probs....

<snip>
He also compares his compulsive gambling to the behavior of former President Clinton, actors Robert Downey Jr. and Winona Ryder, and blames former Reds manager Jack McKeon and general manager Jim Bowden for not giving Pete Rose Jr. enough of a chance when he played for Cincinnati in 1997.

Rose repeatedly challenges the report on his gambling by John Dowd and the accusations made by his former associates before he accepted a lifetime ban in August 1989. <snip>

3. Pete Rose was a bum, is a bum, and always will be a bum.

I think he's better off comparing himself to William Bennett.

4. Pete Rose and the Mafia
Pete Rose did business with the Mafia. That's all baseball needs is another Black Sox scandal.

Friends of Pete Rose, take note: Baseball is protecting itself.

6. further proof that he's a scumbucket
Oh god what an asshole. When are people going to accept the fact that BILL CLINTON IS NO LONGER THE PRESIDENT. Just look around, it's PAINFULLY OBVIOUS!

My dad grew up in Cincinatti and as a kid used to play baseball with none other than Mr. Rose, and was somewhat good aquantences. Well in the mid or late '80's, my dad ran into Mr. Charley Hustle at the West Palm airport, and he causually said hi to Pete, and got COMPLETELY BLOWN OFF. Love ya too Petey...dickhead!

7. well Bill Clinton did defend pete rose
i think when clinton did that, rose made the comparison then also by saying something about how clinton understands people can make mistakes or some other thing. not sure what clinton himself thinks about the comparison though.

9. Well, Pete does admit he has a problem...
And it is indeed an addiction. (Comparing it to Clinton or Winnona Ryder, though, is quite a stretch! ). I've though about this a bit, and I guess, for what my $.02 is really worth, that he SHOULD be admitted, ultimately, to the Hall of Fame (after all, the Hall's management couldn't go much lower than it did last year, now, could it?:eyes: ). What he did on the field and in the clubhouse--other than place bets, of course--was invaluble to his teams, and to the game as a whole.

However, before that, he should certify to the Hall that he's participating in a "Gamblers' Anonymous" program, so that the Hall's Vets Committee can feel reasonably safe that they're not admitting a continuing gambler to Cooperstown. And he should NEVER, NEVER be allowed to manage, or work in top front-office management with, ANY major-league team again, including the Reds!x(

B-)

12. Well he just lost me
I always felt that he deserved to be judged by what he did as a player, I didn't think that his gambling affected the way he managed. But now I don't care. Sure he deserves to be in the Hall, posthumously, not during his lifetime.

Now the greatest threat to America's favorite pastime! When will a SuperFreeperHero arrive to combat the supernatural forces of The Evil Clenis!!

Rose can kiss my ass. If he wants in the HOF, he should buy a ticket like I do. Well - like I USED TO before the Sarandon incident.

... (as if we needed it) that all too many world class athletes are also world class assholes.

Thank goodness baseball bores me to tears. Give me a good football or basketbass game any day. Of course, f/b athletes are, in general, no better. :)
