Central Arkansas DU'ers (am I the only one?) Repub under fire on AM920 |

He voted agaist the school consolidation, supposedly because he didnt feel the Governor had made his case. A republican caller called him out saying other Reps said he had already been discussing plans to run for Senate, and accused him of voting 'no' to keep from alienating himself from potential south Arkansas voters. The representative tried to wiggle his way around the question of whether he had told anyone he was running, but the caller accused him of using 'trick words' and said he didnt believe him. The caller told him that he believed the vote was purely for his own future political gain and was by far not in the best interest of the children, as he claimed.
Still on now...
For anyone who doesnt know the back story, we have a school consolidation Vs. 'No superintendant left behind' situation.

The superintendents have shown me lately that the well being of the kids is the last thing on their agendas. Everytime taxes are raised, they are the only ones who benefit.

5. I agree and so do the teachers |

We could eliminate the Supers right now and not miss a thing.
The one even said(!), my wife's taking care of things in Plainview (while I'm here in Little Rock). Probably does when he's in Plainview as well.

6. So el_gato, you got $800mil? |
|
That's how much it'll cost to keep the status quo.
No, on second thought, that's how much it'll cost to be in compliance w/ Lake View.
It'll cost much more than that for the status quo.

I've been following this story from the beginning.
First off, I'll tell you, This is major.
Towns across Arkansas are going to collapse because of this.

Major? Oh, hell yes. But I look for the legislature to take the "only" way out: do nothing and let the Court take over. No lawmaker from a small district can vote for consolidation without facing a mob when he/she goes back home.
Nice to see us all in one place on this thread!!
