What?? A "conservative" criticizes Ann Coulter?

Goodness gracious. Here is someone in deep trouble with the Right; a self-described principled conservative criticizes Ann Coulter! Could Rush or Hannity be next? Naah. But, enjoy the column (link at bottom). Why doesn't Rove pick Ann for Bush's "Sister Souljah" moment? Maybe because she doesn't go far enough for this administration. Anyway, here's the conclusion:

Some courageous conservatives and libertarians – such as Dorothy Rabinowitz, Jim Pinkerton, Arnold Beichman, Paul Greenberg and John Leo – are openly critical of Coulter, yet Coulter’s warped views continue to spread and her power continues to grow.

Ann Coulter is, indeed, mainstreaming extremism within the Conservative Movement.

My fellow conservatives, I implore you to follow the lead of John Leo, et. al. and renounce the extremist views of Ann Coulter. “Evil thrives when good men do nothing.” Far too many good men are silent today.

If the author of that article is correct (in saying that Coulter's extremist world view will alienate the conservative movement from the American people) then we liberals should hope that she isn't cut short, but rises to be the leading popular spokesmodel for the Republican party.

I agree she should be given enough rope with which to hang herself, yada yada, but her column appears in our daily newspaper and I can't tell you how many Lets.to the Ed. It took a while for Rush to stumble, but he has. The people who are still sticking up for him are having a real hard time thinking of "excuses." Ann is not far behind.
