DoD Reports up to 22,000 U.S. Casualties

http://www.veteransforcommonsense.org/newsArticle.asp?id=1457

-snip-

Orthopedic surgery – 3,907

General surgery – 1,995

Internal medicine – 1,291

Psychiatric – 1,167

Neurology – 1,002

Gynecological – 491

Sources say that most of the gynecological evacuations are pregnancy-related, although the exact figure can’t be confirmed – Pentagon pregnancy counts are kept closer to the vest than the number of nuke warheads in the U.S. arsenal.

-snip-

The Pentagon has never won prizes for the accuracy of its reporting, but I think it’s safe to say that so far somewhere between 14,000 and 22,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have been medically evacuated from Iraq to the USA.

-snip-

Our Iraqi casualties deserve nothing less than the unvarnished truth. Only then will their sacrifices not have been in vain. And only then can we all move on with the enlightenment we need to protect and preserve our precious country’s future.

Some are not finding Iraq so boring.

As of January 7, the Pentagon said 2,431 military personnel have been wounded in action and an additional 383 wounded in non-hostile incidents in Iraq.

p.s. the story is yet another OUTRAGE from BushCo... DVA representatives must have BushCo 'handlers' to visit wounded troops. no privacy...

5. What's the Usual Ratio
of killed to wounded? I thought it was usually 8- or 10-to-1. That would suggest that the Pentagon's number is a little low, but fairly close to the expected range.

I don't think 480 deaths is consistently with 22,000 wounded, though. There' something wrong with at least one of those numbers.

6. Not 22000 wounded - The data is that medical fly outs total 22000
of which "Gynecological – 491" are presumed not combat related.

14,000 is the "wounded" per DOD at the end of Nov.

WTF 4000 or 3000 wounded on CNN is ???? - my best guess is we have a photo of someone shooting at the person whose wounds required them to be flown out.

We know the roadside bombs dead and wounded folk do not count for anything.

And I suspect broken leg from falling off a tank is a fly out that would not show up in the wounded count.

I trust Col. Hackworth's reporting.
