Interesting reactions to illegal immigrants bill
The forum this is from is about NY Giants football, but other topics often come up. Most of the posters here are solidly to the right, so the
reactions are interesting.

It looks like the administration has really stepped on a land mine with this.

2. they were thinking they have the next election in the bag
No matter how anyone votes.

I can't believe they would do something like this to completely piss off their base if they didn't think they have it covered.

3. I think at some point, rOve will let it be known
that the vote will come after the election (no chance of passing). This will let the base know (rUsh will have to interpret) that this is a needed ploy to get the Hispanic vote. Problem I see is that the dittoheads will not figure this out and the Hispanics are too smart to fall for this. rOve screwed up.

Be a humane solution to the illegal alien problem 33%

Further depress working wages 67%

4. Have the DUers gone into denial on immigration, or were they already ?
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 03:08 PM by cryofan
Look, the Dems are even more for giving amnesty to illegal aliens than Bush. If you think that GOPers are going to vote against Bush because of his amnesty, you must be crazy. For the ones who hate Bush because he is giving American jobs to illegal alien foreigners, they would be crazy to go vote for Dean or Kerry or whatever. Why? Because the Dems would go much further than Bush did on this issue! Helloooo!???

This is what I have been trying to tell DUers and in particular, DK supporters: if you are a Presidential candidate who says he stands up for American workers against the corporate state, then the illegal alien amnesty issue and immigration in general should really be where you can shine against the GOP. But instead Demo candidates would rather represent foreigners who came here illegally, instead of Americans. What in the $#$@) is going on?

(new apt - no cable yet)

To a Freeper, all callers said they would NOT vote for Bush next November on this issue alone.

Same thing happened on local talk radio too.

KKKarl REALLY f**ked up on this one - expect to see BushCo extraction from this quicksand PDQ.

Hardy Har har...:)

6. a Dem dream come true
BushCo shoots self in foot and we don't have to do anything! so many of his own supporters are up in arms over this, while I do think it is primary purpose is secure the votes in TX, CA, AZ, he's alientated a lot of people with this policy.

9. The Democratic policy on aliens is even more unpopular than GOP's
ALL of the Dem candidates have illegal alien policies MORE unpopular with the majority of voters than Bush's new policy. Period.

12. I have been following this issue for years
I know far more about it than you, trust me.

If you want to learn about immigration, here are a couple of good places to start:
www.vdare.com
www.steinreport.com

13. you know so much about me!
you may be a published writer but I have a degree in history and do research for a living, so don't be condescending.

I found little reference material relating to immigration and a lot of racist ranting at vdare.com. Thanks for sharing.

14. You must not have spent much time at vdare, then....

it is easily the most definitive immigration analysis and reporting site on the web. Nothing else even comes close. THey have complete archives and have been in operation for years. The contributing writers are well educated and have written many books between them.

And they also have lots of "minority" writers.....

Didn't mean to slight you, but I have been following this for years, as I said, and anyone who thinks that the Dem policy is more popular with the people than the GOP is either ignorant (hey. most people are), or being disingenuous. Let's face it, with respect to immigration policy, both the GOP and the Dems are going as far away from the desires of the vast American majority as they please; they do this in order to garner Hispanic votes, and to place themselves in a good place with respect to corporate wishes.

What is weird is that most Hispanics in the USA want less illegal and legal immmigration. This is no secret. But those people either do not or cannot vote. It is the already settled-in hispanics who like it when the GOP and Dems kowtow to their wishes.

And really, for the rest of Americans, who want less immigration, where are they going to go? It is a duoploy....the only game in town. There are no candidates or parties who espouse immigration reduction or even immigration control in a meaningful sense.

Well, one thing that I think we can all take from this is that GDP/ GNP or economic activity is definitely not directly proportional to quality of life or worker earnings. As desperate 3rd world immigrants continue to pour in, quality of life will decrease for many or even most, even as GDP/GNP increases (along with investor profits).
