On Lou Dobbs: "Real wages have declined for the last 30 years"!!! |
|
Finally somebody is saying it!
Granted, it is being used to slam illegal immigrants (not much of a connection there, IMO), but at least it is getting out there.

2. Yeah, their point was it would only make the trend worse |
|
Bush will not get away with this. Frankly I am surprised he is even trying as he is risking a MAJOR revolt amongst the right wing ranks. They have been pretty unified to this point, but this is one of their major issues. It would almost be like Bush coming out in favor of abortion.

3. Sheila jackson discussing the program.... making alot of good points |
|
The guest worker program being discussed.
She is saying it's hard to deport these people. It's good to have these people contributing to the US economy ... but stopping the illegal flow of immigrants.
Lou points out that the program does nothing with security. Sheila doesn't support the bill. Wants a more substantial program.

12. Yes, but to have said it on Corproate TV Pravda is something |
|
Everybody knows lots of things. The Busheviks have been successful in managing Corporate TV Pravda through their contributors by effectively denying the megaphone to anyone who dared to say them.
Everyone knows it, but everyone also knows that, in Amerika, the only things that are "real" are those things we see on TV.
Lou made a big mistake in using his megaphone to disseminate the truth.
He may or may not hear about it THIS time.

7. Lou is gonna be in trouble when his Masters hear he said that |
|
He may get a call from Uncle Karl himself.
Of course, Lou has been such a trusty disseminator of Bushevik Pravda, maybe they'll just leave him alone to see if he'll be Politikally Inkorrect enough to do it again.
Don't violate the New Politikal Korrektness of Imperial Amerika. Dobbs may get one free pass, but if he keeps it up his job could be in peril.

Tancredo is obssesed with stopping immigration. Sometimes he is railing against it in an empty chamber. I wonder why he opposes it so vehemently...

He is purposely ignoring them going up for a few years under Clinton, the first such occurrence since 1974.
So yeah, 30 years, not counting the peak Clinton years.
Dobbs is a GOP donor and shill. Pay him no mind.

How can anyone call themselves a Democrat and support illegal workers. This is a perfect example of why the people in middle America went to the Republican party. The Democrat party has deserted the American worker. Here is an example, 30 years ago the meat packing industry was union and made decent wages $30 an hour in wages and benifits in todays dollar. Now these jobs are filled by illegal workers being paid $8.00 to $9.00 an hour. Is the meat we buy today any cheaper? This is simply a way to drive wages down in this country. If it's not please explain!

Real wages went UP during most of the Clinton years, as part of the greatest economic expansion in our history. He said they have been declining every year for 30 years and that just isn't true.
Now, as far as your theories on why people have left the Democrats for the Republicans, they are interesting, but I can assure you, if any part of that is true, it was due to hot-button social conservative issues like abortion and guns - demagogic claptrap from the NRA and Christian Righ - and not because Republicans really started caring about working folks.
Don't even entertain for a second that the GOP, or Dobbs, cares about labor, bub. Wages have been driven down by corporations exporting jobs for cheaper wages abroad, and even Dobbs acknowledges that. Scapegoating immigrants is just more GOP racism in an insidious form.

I work a Union job in the steel industry, if you say Democrat the responce is they gave us NAFTA. Clinton would do nothing to stop the illegal steel imports and Bush gave us 20 months of teriffs.

They still never attained the level of where they were in 1973. It's like saying the stock market has gained 50% but still hasn't reached the level of where it was in 2000.
The reason it didn't was partly because of NAFTA.

11. CEO for US Chamber of Commerce on with Lou -- he's on fire again |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 06:24 PM by cthrumatrix
He says that we don't have the demographics for the workers. Low fires back but the workers have low abilities. And the CEO acknowledges that 70% of the jobs don't require vast skills.
Lou is getting fired up again.
