It took him a long time to hit his stride (such as it was) and loosen up numb, dry lips that couldn't enunciate the words in front of him.

He looked and sounded like he just woke up from a fitful nap (even his hair was unkempt and frizzy looking) and couldn't get his mouth to jive with his feeble brain for at least thirty minutes into his blurb.
