Three of my family's - and certainly mine - dear friends were killed in a small plane crash. I had only just heard of it yesterday.
Victims of plane crash had attended Masters golf tournament
The Associated Press - North Augusta, South Carolina
South Carolina officials say three men killed in a plane in North Augusta had attended the Masters golf tournament.
The Aiken County coroner's office says the victims in the crash about 10 a.m. yesterday were from Colorado. They are identified as: 70-year-old William Cooper Cuntz Junior of Golden, Colorado, and his two sons. The sons were 41-year-old William Cooper Cuntz the Fourth of Colorado Springs and 39-year-old John Flynn Cuntz of Evergreen.
Officials say the men had attended the Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
North Augusta Detective Tim Thornton says the single-engine Cessna 182 crashed within 100 feet of the Anne Marie Rehab and Nursing Center.
Chief Deputy Coroner Tim Carlton says autopsies will be performed today in Newberry, South Carolina.
Officials are working with federal investigators to determine the cause of the crash.
They were always such nice people to my brother and I, and I wish I had gotten to see them again more recently than three years ago when we moved from Golden, Colorado. My grandfather called today and said William Sr.'s wife, Katie, is absolutely distraught. I hope she feels better as well.
