The Scots have perfected square trees!
American trees are now obsolete!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3624021.stm

The new Scottish Gas headquarters in Edinburgh is cultivating some eye-catching trees - of the square variety.

The trees, which have trunks, branches, leaves and are planted in the ground, were designed by Hyland Edgar Driver.

Scottish Gas said the trees were called Tillia Cordata and the technique to make them square is known as "pleaching" or bracing the trees.

Steve Gorry, Scottish Gas' regional head of operations, said "everyone comments" on the unusual design.

Keep this kicked for our resident Scottish ex-pat, Screaming Lord Byron!

4. Oh, man, now I'm under pressure to say something really witty.
This is the most stoner concept ever. Can't you just imagine the high conversion that led to this.
'Man, trees are cool'
'Yeah, but like, what if they were square, man'
'Dude, you just blew my mind'
'Yeah'

5. They look like giant flyswatters
A nice symbol of man's pathological desire to subjugate nature.

6. Nature's messy and inefficient.
We must make it profitable. Perhaps we should do some downsizing, rationalize the planet a little more. All those trees with the twigs and leaves going everywhere, that's just not structured properly. Maybe the axe needs to fall on these branches.

OK, I'm out of business analogies now.
