Anyone else working on their taxes tonight?
Or, are you waiting for tomorrow?

BTW, I do NOT want to here from all the on-the-ball DUers that already have theirs done. :P

I'm finishing my dad's and probably just doing a run-through on mine and filing an extension. That'll buy me a few more months to procrastinate. ;-)

1. Finished mine earlier today.
The thing is since I had very little income last year, it didn't take very long. I can't say I enjoy it.

2. Nah,
I put my extension in the mail today. They should post mark it for the 15th, buying me 4 month more time. Which is kind of nice seeing as how I haven't filed in 3 years. Damn, I have to see a CPA this weekend.

4. Yikes!
You're definitely in worse shape than me.

Are taxes being withheld from a paycheck? Don't they run those amnesty days every once in awhile where you can turn yourself in and they'll waive penalties? Good luck in getting it all straightened out.

5. I have no idea.
I don't know what I'm in for. I think I may owe close to a grand minus penalties and interest. Hopefully the CPA I go see knows his shit and gives me the right advice.

8. Hate to tell you
but those penalties and interest are going to FAR outweigh whatever you owe in taxes — and the longer you wait the worse it will be. Two of my brothers had done the same thing and it took them some time to straighten it all out.

Take a deep breath and just get it over with. Do you have a friend of family member to take with you for moral support — or just to make sure you don't chicken out. :-)

19. The best CPA for you is a former IRS agent
Make sure you find someone who's been in the business for a while and preferably is former IRS. They know best how to deal with a delinquency situation.

17. Just a few more calculations
And then I file my extension. :-)

My dad did pretty well — even on federal (Actually, he's not very well off and would be screwed if he didn't own his house or have supplemental insurance coverage through his former employer.) He even gets a bit back from the state in the form of a credit for the elderly on property taxes he paid.

Hope you made out OK.

21. Huh?!?!
How is that possible? ASFIK, you can't pay your 2003 taxes until you get all of your paperwork from various places in January 2004. What am I missing?

22. Doing mine today
:P So I'm right there with you proles.

It should be quick because I had no income last year. Zilch. nada. nothing. But I did sell stock, so I'll owe capital gains. Depending on how much this amount is, I'll either pay it in full or file an extention today.

26. yes and no.
Yes I'm working on taxes, but they aren't mine. I finished mine in February. I'm working on my son's. Who called me in a panic, because he left his half-done on his desk when he drove out of town last week, and he hasn't made it back. Something on his car fell apart, and he's been buying parts and putting it back together so he could get home. But he doesn't know if he'll make it back in time. So I finished them, wrote the checks :grr: and will drop them off in the mail this morning before I go to work.

I can't believe I'm doing someone else's taxes.

30. I hope so, too.
As a matter of fact, since he is due home either late tonight or early in the morning, I think I'll put together a little list of things that would console me; there are several unfinished projects around the place requiring more time and muscle than I've had to give it.

29. You are an incredible mom!
I hope he rewards you appropriately.

Obviously, if something unforseeable had happened to me, like your son, I would have been screwed. Some of us aren't lucky enough to have their moms around to help pick up the pieces, no matter how old they are.

 for you
:spank: for your son
