Poll question: Mobile Phones - Gift of the Gods or Spawn of the Devil? |
|
OK, so they can be necessary and very useful in both social and business contexts, but do I really have to listen to distorted shite pop-tunes as ring tones, and 8-year olds discussing the best McDonald's burger with their friends on the phone on the way to school?
As far as I can tell, the less intelligent you are, the more likely you are to have a loud, annoying, stultifyingly ill-informed telephone conversation on a train....

1. And in the Ozarks, at least, they don't always work |

I work for a pest control company, and the techs have phones with them, in case a last minute job comes in, a customer cancels, etc. Half the time I can't understand them or plain simply can't reach them. They are really expensive, too.

2. Once again, not enough choices. |
|
I have a cell phone. I use it only for essential conversations, and I do think they should be banned in some public places, like movie theaters and concert halls.
In emergencies, or when I'm making a cross-country drive with young children, they are a gift from the gods.
