Laws about what time construction can start in residential neighborhoods? |
|
Two years ago, my wife and I moved into a neighborhood that was still under construction. A while ago, they finally finished all the houses around ours and continued down the block. Recently, however, they started putting in two more homes two houses down from us.
New paragraph! This morning, right around the same time as we woke up, they started in with VERY loud banging, over and over and over and over again. My wife said she was talking to some people at work about it, and they told her it was illegal for builders to start before a certain time. Has anybody heard of such a law? (We're in Pennsylvania, by the way.)

State website, do you think, or is it more of a local decision?

3. I'd call the local police or sheriff |
|
They should know. Where I live, it's 8:00 am. Thankfully, they've done all the construction they can in my development.

4. I'd guess it's a local ordinance. |
|
I'd call your locality's code compliance section.

8. Call yer local newspaper if you don't get any satisfaction. |
|
Nothing gets companies to think twice about doing something unpopular quite like the media. If you have a small enough town/city, a complaint like this can wind up on the front page of the paper...
The results can be quite satisfying. Even if you don't get them to stop their annoying practices, the next time local contractors need to pick a new construction company, they probably won't be looking to renew their connections with the "newsworthy" builders!
