Fan Falls From Stands Trying To Catch Barry Bonds Homer - Injured
<snip>

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A fan seeking to catch Barry Bonds' historic 661st career home run fell about 20 feet from the right-field stands out of the stadium and was injured, a San Francisco Giants official said on Wednesday.

"He fell off the wall and landed on his wrists and also suffered a laceration to his head," spokesman Jim Moorehead said.

The man was in the right field stands when Bonds walloped his 661st career home run on Tuesday night, overtaking Hall of Famer Willie Mays for third place on the all time baseball homer list.

The fan apparently thought he had a chance to grab the ball, but fell from the back of the stadium, which is an open pedestrian area two floors above the ground level. The ball ended up splashing into the San Francisco Bay beyond the stadium, and in a remarkable coincidence, was recovered by the same fan who got Bonds's 660th home run on Monday.

2. I was listening to NPR yesterday
and the guy who actually got that ball was in the lake in his kayak behind the stadium. He also caught Bonds 600th the day before..he returned the 600th ball to Bonds but still has the 601st.

3. Wasn't there some guy who died trying to catch a football?
The team kicked a field goal, and he leapt from the stands to his death?

One fewer * voter, I guess.
