Blogging, Syndication, etc.

Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to figure out blogging and I was wondering what resources you would recomment that I look into... I'm using Typepad at this point and the blogging itself is going alright, but I'm not a techie and I don't understand most of the technical side of blogging (coding, syndication feeds, etc.). If any of you have any ideas, let me know... How did CalPundit, TalkingPointsMemo, etc. get started?

I like the concept, but I definately still have my training wheels on...
