Teenager discovers fault in Windows

A Teenage computer expert, just months into his first job, has helped resolve a problem that could have caused global chaos for the multi-billion-dollar Microsoft empire.

Matt Thompson, 19, of Aberdeen IT, was writing a database for a client for use on the world- wide web when he inadvertently caused a major server to crash.

"At first I thought it was a problem with their server," he said, " but I spent several hours carrying out tests and realised there was a Microsoft Windows security fault."
