Poll question: Battle of the Bands: Ry Cooder vs. John Hiatt
Ry - California, guitar legend, side man, "THe Girls From Texas" and other silly songs.

John - Indiana, songwriter, several bouts with the spoon, "You Got A Real Fine Love" and other raucous love songs.

3. No he doesn't
Riding With the King is a great album (The Jerk, Girl On A String), so is Bring The Family. I just like Ry better.

8. Ry is The Man: Delta blues, slide, Bahamian, world music, norteno...
rock, country -- he can do it all.

He has been a sideman for the Stones, Captain Beefheart, Taj Mahal, Randy Newman, Gordon Lightfoot, Arlo Guthrie and numerous others.

John Hiatt is a fine songwriter and a lot of fun, but if you're looking for artistry, you gotta go with Ry.
