Poll question: Should I get cable?
I need DU's help.....

I have a little extra money each month now to pay for cable. I am wondering...is it really worth it.

What concerns me is that if I had cable I would become the TV junkie I know I am...I would watch much of the following...

1. Tech TV
2. C-SPAN
3. Book TV
4. Sci-Fi
5. Old movies.

Now, I am not really able to be outside much because I am allergic to the sun and break out with a rash when I have been exposed to the sun for a long time, so the cable would not be keeping me from doing something outside.

1. Get cable for your computer and
throw away your TV. No TV, no junkie. Problem solved.

7. Oh I totally forgot about Jon Stewart and then there is
Chappelle's Show. A co-worker told me about his black Bush sketch.

Hmmmm....difficult decision this is (as Yoda would say)

9. Only reason not to get cable - Faux news. Watch it for 15
minutes and you will feel as if you have entered an alternate universe.

12. Broadband.
If you already have a fast internet connection and can spare the cash get cable. If you don't have broadband, get it and download your TV shows with bittorrent. All the good stuff you can get with bittorrent and watch without commercials.

A VERY LONG TIME. I love bit torrent but wish it was quicker.

15. I like all those things and have cable
and yet I rarely turn on my tv. When I feel worthless and lazy, I turn it on and vegetate for a few hours then I'm over it.
If you have an addictive personality, forget it.

16. I got rid of my cable on Jan 1...
and I couldn't be happier without. I never bothered putting up my ariel either. I essentially live without TV, except when I watch a woodworking show that I recorded on VCR tape when I had cable.

I say don't buy it.
