Why wasn't Orion chosen as an astrological sign? |
|
It's one of the better looking constellations...

Obscurity does help create visibility.
Except many of the astrological signs are highly contrived. At least Orion looks like a butch dude with a big sword. :-)

... because the zodiacal signs are all constellations the sun passes through in the sky. Orion doesn't qualify.

I hope you're kidding.
I find astrology like other religions, and more dangerous than the others as the most deceptive to progress and human free will.

7. Well, it *is* scientific |
|
If you are dealing with the nomenclature and the history of same.
The Zodiacal constellations are still useful to Astronomy today because they make it easy to locate the planets, which, more or less, confine their motions to the Zodiac.
Of course, all of the "Constellations" are merely human nomenclature used to make finding things in the sky easier. We *could* give all coordinates by Right Ascension and Declination, but that would make it really hard for the average stargazer to find anything at all!!!

Depends on what he's hunting, of course... He's got a big sword and if he's out for a big bull, then I might perhaps stay a small distance away... :D
I love your variant to Matcom's smiley face! Your version has the smiley face on dope (the eyes tell it all) and fried by Godzilla. I dig that... :D
