Red Sox unveil statue of Ted Williams. Is there anything in Boston
http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7260482
commending Bill Russell? I grew up in the area and never saw as much as a brick with Russell's name on it. The man brought 11 championships in 13 years to the Boston area. Williams was great, one of the top 5 IMO, but how many championships did he bring? Zero, Nada, None!!!!
If anyone knows of anything commending Russell in Boston please inform me.

1. Nothing - Bill said he disliked Boston and its folks -so there was no love
Alternatively one could say Bill reacted to the racist world of 1970 Boston.

In any case you have spots that honor him with the Celtics - but no statues.

3. I cant blame Bill. He tried to buy a house in Reading and the neighbors
got together and bought the house he wanted, at a higher price, just to keep the black guy out of the neighborhood.

4. No, but there should be a statue of Jackie Robinson
A nice fuck you to the long-standing institutional racism of the Boston Red Sox.

6. Relax. It's only Boston we're talking about here, not NY.

Besides, it the city of Boston really wanted to honor Ted Williams, they'd fulfill his wishes and tear down effing Fenway.

On edit: oops, forgot to mention: 1918, BoSox well-documented racism during Ted's day...
