5. No, no, a thousand times, no.
Just look at street crime v. suite crime.

The rich rarely get the "book" thrown at them. One can literally steal a hundred million dollars from a company and get a few short years in a reletively nice cell. Steal a car worth $200 and get 5 years.

Throw in the "drug war" and it's even worse.

It's a shit system.

I know for a fact that Texas does not like to convict millionares. But we put people on Death Row with incompetant public defenders who sleep through their trials.... or round up innocemt people in fradulalnt drug dealing chagres.

Not to mention Houston Crime Labs that finger innocent people.

No, I would say it really is a crime to be poor - in more ways than I can say.
