I was at a library today which has an area where they sell old collected books to the public. It's an ongoing event, so people are in and out all the time. I was looking at the history and classical fiction work, and picked up a copy of The Prince by Machiavelli. I turned to my friend Steve who was with me, and said I should re-read it now that I was older. There was an older woman there with her husband, and she heard and laughed, and said sometimes they were more fun than when we were younger, and she asked which book it was, so I told her. She laughed and said that was NOT one of the books which would be better now! I laughed and said we see too much of it in current politics, and she mumbled something about * and I said that I didn't think he was even THAT educated and she laughed and said, she didn't think he'd read it, but some people were just born that way! We had a good laugh about that.
I just thought I'd share. It's nice to meet fellow liberals in such bastions of free thought like the library.

things like that happen, probably because they're real. As great as it is to communicate with like minded people on DU, a real life encounter has that extra something. Is it my imagination, or encounters like that happening more often now? Let's hope the tide is swinging our way, and there will be more and more as election day nears.:-) :D
