BiggJawn, I'm calling you out today!
30 miles in 2:03, with an average heart rate of 151. Must admit the conditions were ideal.

I could have done better without the numerous street crossings and all the families on the trail. I wanted to ride more, but I had to stop to go to work, where I'm at right now. :-(

Wanna race?

Does your liver quiver? Are your knees knocking. Are you in an ice-cold sweat yet?

Eh? I thought not.

On edit: Almost forgot. Good for you prolesunited. I'd be in the CICU.

4. I'll sprint you.
50 yards. However, you must sign a release to pay for my medical bills and/or funeral. Really big funeral, too. I'd rather be on the sidelines watching you and BJ race. Hell, I'd much rather be sitting down with both of you over some strong coffee and talking our unique brand of politics. Understand though, BJ and I might tell a ham radio war stories or two.

5. Well, you got me beat.
But how could you do on gravel roads? ;-)

(Then again, I don't have to worry about running down families by accident where I ride.)

and I'll beat you, too! :D

Many days, I wish I was the only one out there, which I am if I get an early enough start or ride around dinner time. Let's see, there's the families who ride side by side along the entire width of the trail — at like 7 mph! Then there's the oblivious kids who suddenly veer from their path and ride aimlessly out in front of you.

My personal fave is the people who stop to make adjustments — in the middle of the trail! I also rather enjoy the consideration shown by drivers at busy street crossings. I always stop and never dart in front of traffic, but many times when I get my turn, the oncoming vehicles actually speed up like they are trying to get me.

And as much as I love the lakefront trail, the people tend to be even stupider there. More than once I have had younsters literally jump off the staircases in front of my bike.

Last week, this rather heavy woman misjudged how fast I was moving, panicked in trying to get out of my way and actually moved INTO my path at the last minute. I literally crashed into her as she was standing there. The only thing that saved us was that she was very well padded. ;-)

Well, the weather looks iffy tomorrow, but I'm doing at least 50 if I can swing it since I have the whole day off.

Are you sore today?

8. I wasn't in the city today
But I usually just go down the lakefront trail. It's a beautiful ride. Once you get past North Beach on one side or McCormick Place on the other, it's not so crowded.

You definitely need to get your bikes back! What do you ride?
