A fun day at the liquor store!
I love expanding my liquor cabinet...

I got:

Old Overholt Rye Whiskey

Chimayo Tequila

Rowan's Creek Small Batch Bourbon

Deanston's 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch

Well, I know what I'm drinking tonight!
How about you?

2. Manhattans were originally made for rye, weren't they?
I was reading a page on rye whiskey the other day that said someting to the effect of that.

3. Nice selections, I am grilling at present, and enjoying a
Klarbrunn

A nice natural raspberry flavored sparkling water.

With my T-bone I will enjoy an ice cold glass of Skim.

Wooo-hooo - its saturday night.

:toast:

5. Mmm...rye...
I actually don't care much for most whisk(e)ys, but for some reason, I like rye. I think I'm going to pour myself some rye.

but just what the hell are YOU doing with MY rye?

I thought you bought your own Old Overholt.

I was talking to eyesroll. I don't want her drinking all my booze while I'm in Cleveland.

18. Oops! Guess you found out our little secret...
I am talking about my rye, of course. It's the way things post on DU; it's sometimes easy to get confused as to who is posting to who.

9. Could someone explain this "Small Batch Bourbon" thing to me?
Im a Kentuckian who lived near the bourbon producing region, and the only true small batch/small capacity operation Im familiar with was Makers Mark.

10. According to the bottle...
small batch bourbon distilleries produce only a small amount, so that the distiller can spend more time with each batch.
Rowan's Creek is based in Bardstown KY and apparently has only been around a few years, like since 1981.
Other than that, I know I like it better than Jim Beam or Jack Daniels. I like MAker's Mark too.

20. Ohhhh! Sorry! My sincere sympathies!
I have had Hep A twice, and just general jaundice several times (I have Gilbert's syndrome). Hep C is one of my nightmares. Hope you get better.

21. thanks
I will get better, but I doubt I'll ever lose the virus. I am going to have to live healthily to compensate. The only known cure has a very nasty side effect (major depression) that I'm not willing to suffer.
