Anyone see Kill Bill Vol 2? |
|
Saw it last night. Thought it was a fitting climax to a great, great saga of love, redemption and revenge.
The second part is less violent and has less action. It got a little wordy at parts. The first 20 minutes dragged but then they got into some really good scenes about Uma's character in the past.
I loved UMA in it! Her scenes with Bill (keith carradine) and Daryl hannah,in a career performance imo, were awesome.
The second part is more emotional and character driven. Some may be disappointed by the lack of action but the end chapter was great. I almost cried. Imagine that, crying in a Quentin Tarantino movie.
If you liked the first part, the Second Volume is a must see.

Something different, making you wait for the second part. They actually bleep it again in the second part then later they reveal it.

12. part one was a masterpiece.. |
|
I just got the DVD. 2 was a letdown in my view...I really think they could have edited some of the talking down, cutting off at least 30 mins of useless dialog and expanded on some of the fight scenes a bit. Uma was awesome as usual, but it just doesn't compare to V1.

V2 had it's awesome moments but agree with editing some talking and give us more action but I was pleased with how it turned out.

Volume 1 was so good, Vol. 2 was destined to be a letdown, just like the Matrix movies. Too much talking, not enough action. Kind of boring in parts actually. Best part was the mean Kung Fu master, that almost saved the whole movie. The showdown at the end with Bill was very anti-climactic. The kid was cute though.

and loved it. We rewatched Vol 1. last night, too. Loved it again.
I thought Vol. 2 was every bit as good as vol. 1, but very different. Darryl Hannah was awesome, and David Carradine was surprisingly good.
Yes, there was less action than in Vol. 1, but more drama.
My bf and I both thought it was fantastic.

Or is it post-natal weight loss? She's completely lost that slightly cherubic look she always used to have.

I don't know but she looked pretty damn hot in this movie. And skinny as a rail for a girl who had just had a kid a few months before filming.
I feel where the action is concerned that it is important to remember that this is not a sequel. Much of the dialogue in this one would probably have been sprinkled throughout this one. Maybe someone who has read the screenplay could verify or tell me I'm full of shit. I can't wait until the SE DVD comes out. I am hoping for something along the lines of The Lord of the Rings which has all of the deleted scenes put back in. Also hoping that the House of Blue Leaves is in color. It is in the Japanese version, and just because the MPAA are a bunch of (well you know) doesn't mean I should have to put up with a pretty pointless black and white scene.

The character development was great in this movie, if you disregard the 2d Elle Driver. Two of the chapters (The Lonely Grave of Patricia Schultz and The Cruel Tutelage of Mai Pai) were the best in two films, in my opinion. I was especially fond of the character Budd, who had such remorse for his actions that he resigned himself to a life of drunken misery.
I must admit, the first had my hopes up in terms of actions, and the final scene at first seemed like a let down to me... but in retrospect I'm thinking this movie might be better than the first volume.
Either way, when the two parts are eventually combined (and according to Tarantino, slightly rearranged, chronologically), they will form one hell of a film.

I liked Elle. She did probably the most F'ed up thing in the world. Using the Black Mamba and then telling Budd what happened when the Mamba bit you I thought was really messed up.

I especially like the symbolism of the Black Mamba/Bride. I just think Elles character really lacked any depth. Even Vernita Green got more development.

and O ren were the only two who seemed to have no remorse over what they did. O ren I guess because she was pretty heartless, and Elle because she wanted to take the brides place in all parts of her life. Bill's woman and as the top assasin. She is probably the single most undeveloped character in all of QT's movies. At least of the ones who show up in more than one scene I guess.

Sorry, I just can't get into a movie that couldn't be even remotely possible. Give me a break one person takes on 50 people with swords and kills them all and comes out without a scratch. They get a arm or leg or head cut off and they spray blood like a fire hose.

To understand the bloodletting and such you have to understand which movies were an influence on KB. If you go to IMDB and click on KB1 movie connections it is a massive list. Included on that list are numerous Japanese films that involve that kind of bloodletting.
Some suspension of belief is necessary for KB, but that is the case for most movies esp. action movies. How many action movies don't contain the hero taking out way more bad guys than is believeable?

29. I didn't like the gushing blood either |
|
but I appreciated the rest of the film from an artistic perspective. Tarantino was obviously going for the real-life anime angle. I'm a huge anime fan so I was fine with the unreality of the fight sequences. The blood was really hard to watch, especially the gallons and gallons the Japanese schoolgirl let.

|
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 06:44 AM by fujiyama
seemed way to fake. I remember laughing at many of those scenes.
The second isn't nearly as violent, but isn't quite as creative either. No weird anime sequences. However, the training sequence scene is really cool.
Overall I liked both of them, but they still don't compare with Pulp Fiction.
