Any Irish whiskey drinkers out there? |
|
I would like to get some Irish whiskey, but I really don't know anything about it. Anyone have any information, or favorite brands?

11. I agree both are good, but I like single-malt Scotch better. Now you |

need not worry about them anymore, they'll be after me. }(

16. Actually, I like em all! |
|
Bourbon, Rye, Tequila (ESPECIALLY!), Scotch, Irish, Rum, Ouzo, Akvavit, cream drinks/liquers...everything but vodka and gin, really. I'm pretty much an equal-opportunity lush.

I expect I will be soon! Actually, I like the idea of having an extremely well-stocked liquor cabinet. I always have a big choice whenever I want anything. Weird thing is, I really don't drink that much...

Im pretty indiscriminate about what kind of whiskey I drink. Every time I drink whiskey Im not really doing it for the flavor.

18. Irish is Scots whisky without the peat, basically. |
|
You can even get single malt Irish (Bushmills bottles 10 and 16-year-old single malts).

Both Irish and Scotch are distilled from barley malt. The barley is sprouted and the roasted. In Scotland they use open kettles and thus the smokey taste, whereas in Ireland the malt is roasted in closed kettles. By the way, the Irish language phrase for whiskey means the water of life.

15. according to the Jameson people when |
|
I went on the tour in Dublin. Jameson whiskey is distilled 3x while scotch whiskey is distilled 2x. As I usually don't drink whiskey, I couldn't tell you how much of a difference this makes
I can tell you I like Guinness and their tour :9

Can't get it here in Texas, I tried-no one stocks it. I had an airplane bottle in the medicine chest for years and I drank it a year ago New years. I've given up ever getting back to west Cork, but it's still in my heart.
BTW, I use to be a scotch drinker but no more.

has made me a wee bit thirsty. Dont have any Irish whisky handy, so I had to settle for 35 yr. old Black & White. It hasnt lost a bit of flavor in all that time. Its been here so long, it's like saying hello to an old friend. Irish is on the list, tho.

30. love Irish whiskey..but all you find here in N CA Coast, is Jameson |
|
(Catholic whiskey) or Old Bushmills (Protestant whiskey)
When I was in Northern Ireland and then Ireland i enjoyed so many fine Irish whiskeys...
In the US everything is Scotch.
